The Bonaventure Quartet
Luckily, we are better musicians than mathematicians. Originally your basic four piece quartet, we kept growing until now we have arrived at what we refer to as the Double Quartet. What do you get when you combine the gypsy-jazz stylings of Django Reinhardt and the torchy-twangy mezzo delivery of Patsy Cline with a rowdy troupe of Romani-esque instrumentalists? The only correct answer would be the Bonaventure Quartet, an Atlanta-based confederation founded at the turn of the millennium by guitarist/composer Charles Williams.
The Bonaventure part of the group's moniker seems inclusive enough when considering the range of territory covered by the BVQ: le jazz hot and cool, Broadway show tunes, Latin noir, folk ballads, sea shanties, and the occasional twinge of rock 'n' roll. Actually, the name refers to the street on which Williams lived for 20 years.

In 2002, Laval won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship which launched his career throughout the U.S. and Scotland as a devoted performer of Celtic music. A self-managed, independent artist, Laval sustains a schedule of over 100 solo engagements per year on community concert series, large festival stages, as a soloist with symphonies, and in chamber music performances with other top string players. He teaches master classes and seminars for string players in summer music camps such as The Swannanoa Gathering and is a frequent lecturer at California State University and other similar institutions.
Murmurs and Drones, Laval’s third and most recent album, won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards.

Matthew ‘Kickin’ Kaminski brings his special accordion skills to the band. When not playing Western music, Matthew has a growing recording career as a Jazz organist. And, during baseball season, he takes his organ skills into the booth as the official Atlanta Braves organist!
‘Ramblin’ Rick Hinkle is a master of all things stringed and often joins the band as guitarist and vocalist. His recording and performance career spans a Who’s Who of famous Atlanta singers and bands. Rick also operates his own recording studio as Producer / Engineer.
